Pretty much thumbs down on everything you said.  Virtue Fighter has a HUGE audience in it's native country Japan.  VF 2 was as popular as Pac man was in its heyday.  Virtua Fighter 5 tournaments were still held in Japan with hundreds of players up until the pandemic.   You are really just talking from an insular point of view.   Case in point, the debacle with the Last Of Us Part II.   I played it from beginning to end , hated the story, hated the new characters.  But I have to take my hat off to Naughty Dog , I haven't had this many jump out of ny seat gaming moments since Uncharted 2 on PS3.  The gameplay is THAT DAMN GOOD.  So regardless of the story, I give TLOU part 2 and  8 out of 10.   People on Metacritic are review bombing the user reviews with zeros out of a hundred.   It is a damn shame and it indicates a dark future for gaming.

        I give Shenmue 3 a 8.5 out of 10.   Loved the story, loved the gameplay but there were some issues they need to iron out with it.  There is a cognitive disconnect between the current generation of gamers and the 1990-early 2000 generation of gamers.   The current generation of gamers seem to equated the word " video game"  with "CGI movie"  .  These type of gamers rate gameplay as 10% important to a game and story and cinematic 90% important.

    The legacy of developers like Hideo Kojima who put games on the map as cinematic digital entertainment has been perverted in this current zeigeist.  It's like a dystopian future now seeing how Cyberbullied Neil Druckman is after busting his hump making a phenomenal game.  He is a genius just like Yu Suzuki , and Hideo Kojima .  The current generation just want to set the game on "easy difficulty" cruise  through a game on autopilot and watch cinematic passively.  If that's what you want from Shenmue III then no wonder so much of you are upset with the game.

Yu Suzuki Has Caved to Casuals (And His Investors) Shenmue IV Will Be More Casual Friendly And Not a True "F.R.E.E."

Yu Suzuki says a lot of things, so there's no need to panic.  If he nerfs and makes one thing easy and user friendly, he ramps up the challenge on other things.   Hopefully if Suzuki increases the  ease of access on the UI level of the game with stupid quality of life changes for these whiny casual nerds, he will in turn ramp up the challenge on the fighting gameplay.  In Shenmue III, Suzuki made combat fisher price easy so these casual fairies would have it easy, but they didn't appreciate it at all.  These non-gamer casual pieces of shit set every game on easy mode so they can just blast through the game and watch the cutscenes. To them "game" is synonymous with "Digital Movie" they are in it for the story and nothing else.  They will set the controller on turbo fire and tape down the button just sob they have a hand free to pick their noses and watch the cutscenes.  That's all a game is to these millenial cucks: a movie. 

           Case in point: look at the Last Of Us Part II.  These assholes ganged up on Metacritic and gave that game a million Zero rated User Reviews because they didn't like the "story"  .  Look I hated the story in TLOU PT 2 also, but from a gameplay standpoint , it is game of the year, hands down.  It rivals Metal Gear solid in its prime. I played the game from beginning to end.  The gameplay is PHENOMINAL. The stealth is awesome, the weapons are customizable, the crafting system adds strategy to the encounters.  As much as I hate that unfuckable Gina Carano clone Abby, her combat sections were off the chain.  Right off the Bat, she gets a better rifle than Ellie, and you can upgrade it to three round burst.  The stealth sections with both characters are great, you can go prone and hide under objects.  The combat is nuanced, and there is a kind of rage mode Abby can spec out.  Both characters get the option to grab and enemy if they land a heavy hit.  So the combat is not just mindless strings.  All those gameplay nuances, the next generation graphics and you give the game a 0 because "you don't like the story"?!?!? It's not a movie you fucking assholes, its a game first and foremost.  Millenials are spoiled moronic shitheads.  To me story is only worth 20% of the game.  So by that metric TLOU PT2 is an 80 out of 100.  Yes the story sucked, NO Joel shouldn't have died, especially not like a punk as he did.  Yes Dina's unshaved armpit hair made me want to puke.  Yes Abby's complete story arc was worthless and a pathetic attempt to make us sympathize with her. However, Naughty Dog feels obligated to give us a 20+ hour game every time.  They didn't have enough story to just have Ellie travel cross country and shoot Abby in the face. So they wrote a separate story for  Abby to pad the game to 25 hours.  Am I ok with that? Yes and No.  I hated Abby's Resting Bitch Face and her story sucked as well as all her supporting characters. However I LOVED playing as the Ugly Alice-the-Goon bitch and breaking necks Shooting People with the burst-rifle and tossing homemade bombs at them.  At the end of the day, Video games are games first, movies second.

Virtua Fighter 6 Is NOT Going To Be Announced March 25. Don't Believe Fake News

      Eventhubs recently took a Sega website announcement and tried to pass it off as a clickbait  teaser for Virtua Fighter 6.  The ad quotes  " 6 days until birth " .

      What they don't tell you is the number 6 in the ad is the only thing remotely related to Virtua Fighter 6.

Its just a coincidence.    Other, more reputable sites with a modicrum of journalistic integrity did a FULL translation of the page.

Some sensationalist fake news generators are jumping to conclusions that this ad is somehow fighting game related, or VF related.  Mostly because the ad shows a shadowy image of a ln anemic looking Martial Artist in the most feeble karate stance I have ever seen.  

Sorry kids.  If you get a full translation of the ad , it says " our legendary Sega 60th anniversary Ambassador is on the way". Right next to the image.  They are obviously talking about Segata Sanshiro.  The last time Sanshiro helped promote a Sega event was Sega-Fes or Sega Festival, a few years ago.  Prior to that, websites were also hyping up Sega-Fes to be the time of Virtua Fighter 6' s announcement.  Fool me once.......

         Anyway she attacked the game at its core, for being conversation and investigation  driven.  Look conversations are the core of this game, you question Npcs for clues.  If you dont like that, DON'T review the game!  Its Shenmue, a 20 year old game everybody knows the basic concept.  Complaining about the main component of advancing the plot is like complaining about GTA having too much driving.

 Shenmue III  is a game with a living world, more alive than  other games because nearly every npc can be questioned , unlike Yakuza where the npcs are just wallpaper, or GTA where the npcs are just walking targets to be murdered.  In Shenmue III  every npc has a personality.    It makes the world more real and immersive.

Shenmue III is winning gaming awards, over the Walking Dead , in the adventure game category.  This speaks volumes , because Shenmue III  was accused of not meeting modern videogame standards, or conventions.  Its interesting because the Walking Dead borrowed a lot of interface and playstyle from Shenmue.  Most Western video game journalist give in to nationalist pride and have a condescending tone when addressing  japanese development.  An annoying trend among video game journalist is using the term Jrpg.  Instead of just calling a japanese developed rpg just "an rpg".  As if japanese development rpgs are somehow inferior or archaic.  I tell you one thing Japanese games work right out of the box, and dont need 500 gb day one patches like western developed rpgs do.  Western developmemt uses the patch culture as a crutch, often at the expense of the consumer.  Putting western rpgs on a pedestal is false pride.  Shenmue III  is an F.R.E.E. its own genre of game, and shouldn't feel beholden to take on conventions of Western developed games, modern or otherwise.

No more do I have to suffer with the piss poor Final Showdown game system just to play new characters like Jean and Taka!! Oh yes!! Its a new day and FS is officially flushed down the toilet!!!.
Let's face it, VF6, if it comes out will be a shitty, watered down excuse for VF.  It's a sign of the times: each new generation of VF game has been scrubbier than the last.  Every game franchise has been deconstructed and dumbed down to account for societies declining brain cell count.

                          I always wanted to eventually buy a VF coin op Cab.  Now I have two!1 (I also bought a Sega Naomi 2 , Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned with the dongle).

Anyway,  the wiring setup of the JVS was a great challenge. It was essentially building a mini supergun.  (1/3)  .  Luckily the Lindbergh has its own on board audio and video boards.

Unfortunately I've been running on only two hours sleep per day since Thanksgiving. Work, Girlfriend, mistress, Shenmue 3 came out.  So I've been running on vapors for a while. When they sell you a JVS, there is documentation on the wiring.   The guy who sold me the JVS had emailed me the pinout but I already downloaded the JVS Type 3 pinout from google.  Having the pinout with out having the wire diagram is like have the blueprints of the first floor of a building, with no blueprints for the remailing 23 floors.

  So since I was extremely tired, I looked at the +5 and +2 inputs on the JVS board and took them literally.  I had completely forgotten I had seen a Lindbergh video on youtube where the author spliced in wires from the ATX to power those inputs.  So instead, I wired up two power pack transformers, One 12v and one 5v, to cover those power sources. LOL!! Totally wrong, but it actually worked!!

I was having a problem with the TEST, SERVICE , COIN COUNTER switches not registering as inputs, or only 1 out of twenty input switches registering .  by my astute observation, There was simply not enough power being generated by the 5v power pack to power all the switches.  By my best guess, I figured yes the +5V power port required 5Volts, but MORE than the 1 amps the power pack I used provided.  I started thinking "Man I need a stronger amp power pack" but then it dawned on me: damnit, I was supposed to get the 5V power from the ATX wires!!!!

ATX MOLEX Wire. If hooked up to a Sega JVS as is, it will FRY your board. Tread carefully

           I slowly remembered the video I saw weeks earlier about the ATX being wired to a JVS.
So like a nut I quickly plugged the first molex  I could into the 4-pin 5V port on the JVS.  Plugged it in and hot damn nearly blew up the board.  The Plugs burst into flames, and like Barry Allen the Flash, I switched off that power strip faster than I turned it on.  Unfortunately the Molex plug on an ATX has 5V Gnd Gnd and 12VOLTS on the yellow wire!!! So the 12 volts nearly blew the board.  I looked up the pin out on an ATX molex,  got the bad news and cut up and splice the Molex 5v and 12 V to the appropriate ports on the JVS.  In my defense, I LOOKED at the power output diagram on the side of My 1200 watt Powersupply.  It detailed the +5V on the molex, the 3.3V on the other wires, but NOT ONE mention on where the 12v power on the ATX was at all.

  Anyway, got that all wired up,  thinking I'm going to be able to play some VF5R!!

My model is a TYPE 3, so it can handle JOYSTICKS , STEERING WHEELS , LIGHT GUNS AND FORCE FEEDBACK with ease.  Basically a Jack of all trades I/O board.

NOOOOPPEE! Inputs still don't work.  God damnit, decided to  recruit some candy cab players to my VF5 vanilla group.  Cruz gave me the name of his JVS controller adapter.  Before I could recruit R-Kelly Oliver Lealand of Crazy STL Tim to the group, I googled for some answers to my input program, key wording wiring diagram And JVS 60 Pin.
 Turns Out I found a forum post of a user with a similar problem with inputs.  The Next poster pointed out he needed a LOOP CABLE, basically a female to female jumper wire connected to pin 1 and pin 3 on the JVS 60 pin port and Viola, all the inputs for all the joystick and service buttons work.  HOT DAMN!!! Going to play some VF5 R!!

So my favorite game company SEGA  may be out of the console business, but this LINDBERGH  YELLOW is like my new SEGA Game system!! It has 18 other games on it besides VF5 R!! Sure a SEGA Arcade Light Gun and Steering Wheel will cost $500 a pop, but you know what? Life is good!! Treat Yo Self!!!!

So I finally hooked up the HRAP4 to the JVS and played some "R"
Is a half step between VF5 Vanilla and VF5 FS.  It leans more towards VF5 Vanilla , so its definitely a HUGE step up from that PS store XBL arcade downloadble budget title we are currently forced to play on consoles.

Offensive Move P and K are still in +


Defensive Move PK is still in, So FUCK you FS button mashers, you have no game in VF5 R +
Low Throws are still P+K+G. This is REAL VF, not that Tekken light bullshit FS is.
  The graphics are 100% better than VF5 FS on consoles
The sound is pristine and stellar, unlike FS music which is overly compressed garbage.

Jean has a throw I've never seen before. He throws you to the ground and throws a reverse punch finisher to your face.

Vanessa still has her three step follow up from her hit throw, giving you more control.
Vanessa's shoulder ram is in the game but it's not "Switch Shoulder" as doing it doesn't switch her stance.   Here in VF5 R , it is 66P+K.

Vanessa's lancer tackle is 66P+G like FS, but to activate her ground and pound, its P or 2P, giving you those canned pound animations from Final Showdown.


Minuses are Vanessa lost DS K8K input , for KK, also Vanessa doesn't have her three way choice (P, K, or throw) from her defensive passive reversal.
Overall,  VF5 R is pretty damn sick.

VF5 Vanilla is still king, Vanessa has all her reversals and the gameplay mechanics are still a culmination of everything learned in previous VF's.  VF5 R is fun, but there are several instances of watering down I can't abide.  The definitive version of VF5 is Vanilla, and the VF series peaked there.   Its a good thing Vanilla is also on the Lindbergh..................
